These recommendations cover metadata added to learning objects added the new Omeka-based repository. Access the repository by going to http://wolflor.omeka.net/admin and signing in, or by signing into http://www.omeka.net/dashboard and selecting "Manage Site" under wolflor.omeka.net.
Here are the fields that the Learning Objects Repository (LOR) subgroup recommends using for all items added to the repository. There are also some recommendations on what to add and how to enter them.
Item Relations: this is on a separate tab from the initial Dublin Core metadata entry form. Item Relations allows you to map related items--for example, an updated version of a previously uploaded item. We recommend sticking to the following Dublin Core options under the "Relation" dropdown menu in the Item Relations tab:
You will need to enter the Object ID of the item you are linking to; the Object ID is the same as the Item # listed at the top of the edit page for the item, or the final number in the item's public URL:
File formats should be derived from the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority Media Types list at https://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/media-types.xhtml.
Here are the recommended media types to use when uploading documents to the Learning Object Repository. Please format in the “Type” metadata field as below; file formats are case sensitive.
Please make all tags lowercase, and do not use any special characters (for example, enter "knowledge and values" instead of "Knowledge & Values;" Omeka will automatically convert the "and" into a properly coded ampersand). Please include tags that articulate the audience for your item as well as the item type. Examples include:
It is standard to link Creative Commons license text to its relevant legal code. To do so, you will need to click the "Html" button when editing your item metadata:
Then add in your CC-license text:
Highlight your text, then click the "hyperlink" button:
And finally, insert the URL for your Creative Commons legal code:
