This guide outlines how to access library services as we recover from Hurricane Ida. We plan to open the building the week of September 13th, but we wanted to remind you that many of our services continue to be available remotely. We will update this guide as we update services with improving conditions.
Although we cannot currently scan materials from our own print collections, we are actively processing requests for digital/scanned versions of articles and chapters from other libraries.
Please see our Interlibrary Loan page for details and to access ILLiad to make requests.
If you are a student who needs help with your research, please email us at libref@loyno,edu.
When you do, please tell us what class you are working on, and give us any details about your topic and the kinds of sources you need.
We have a team of librarians responding to your questions as quickly as we can, but please be patient with us. For questions sent late in the day, responses may come the following day.
If you have a really quick, basic research question, please try our chat reference service.
Employees who work in the Monroe Library may enter the building beginning on Thursday, September 9.
Hours will be:
September 9-12: closed
Monday-Thursday, September 13-16: 8am-8pm (note that we will open the doors a little early on Tuesday and Thursday for students or faculty who may have 8 am classes)
Friday, September 17: 8am-6pm
Saturday, September 18: 11am-5pm
Sunday, September 19: 11am-10pm (depending partly on staffing)
Monday, September 20: resume regular library hours
Please check the hours page for updates.
We will probably leave study rooms open (no key checkouts) until we're back to normal in-person classes, so faculty may use these rooms.
If you are a student who has lost belongings in Hurricane Ida and need to request a laptop, please use this form. We are waiting for new hotspots to arrive, but if you need one, fill out the form and we'll get one to you as soon as we have them. We know that many people in the city are without internet. Do feel free to come to the library to attend your Zoom/online classes. We also have iPads available.
Media Services will reopen its office from 9am to 5pm during the week of September 13th and resume portable equipment loans at that time. Library meeting rooms and classrooms are available for reservation; however, priority will be given to Loyola students and faculty attending or conducting classes. Please use our online forms to request equipment or meeting spaces, and direct any other inquiries about Media Services resources to mediasrv@loyno.edu.
