PowerNotes Usage Guide: Setting Up and Activating PowerNotes

To install the PowerNotes browser extension, you can go to https://www.powernotes.com/, click the “Resources” menu, and select “Install Extension”; the website will automatically detect which browser you’re using. Follow the prompts to install the extension.

Once it’s installed, click on the “Extensions” icon in your browser - in Chrome and Firefox, it can be found in the top right of the screen and looks like a puzzle piece. Select the “PowerNotes Research” extension.

If this is your first time using PowerNotes, you can create your account when you activate the extension. Make sure you sign up using your Loyola New Orleans email address for access to more features. Once you’ve registered and logged in, the PowerNotes browser extension should open on the right side of the screen. If it doesn’t, click on the “Extensions” icon again, select “PowerNotes Research”, and then select “Enable PowerNotes”.

The PowerNotes extension can be minimized when not in use and reopened when needed. To open the extension on a website that is compatible with PowerNotes, click on the yellow button that can be found in the bottom right corner of the browser window.

When the extension is open, the yellow button changes to arrow icons. Click it to minimize the extension.

If the yellow PowerNotes button is not visible, the website might not be compatible with PowerNotes or the extension could be deactivated. Check the PowerNotes icon in the extension tray at the top of the screen and select "Enable PowerNotes" if it is not currently enabled. If the PowerNotes icon is not visible in the extension tray, click on the puzzle piece icon, find the PowerNotes extension, and click the pin icon.
