Video Editing Software
You will pick a video editing software to use for your film. There are three programs you can download and use from your computer, and a variety of multimedia software is available on specific workstations in the library's learning commons. You can find download and tutorial links for Open Shot, Shotcut, and a 30 day free trial of Camtasia below, and a link to the library webpage listing available multimedia software in the left column of this guide.
- OpenShotOpenShot is an free open-source video editor. You download it onto your computer. Projects are saved to the computer you are working on, so can't be automatically transferred between workstations.
- ShotcutShotcut is another free, open-source video editor. Projects are saved to the computer you are working on, so can't be automatically transferred between workstations.
- Camtasia (Free 7-Day Trial only)Camtasia is a paid software, but you can click here to begin your 7-day free trial. You will need to create a new account using your email address and then download the Camtasia software.

Camtasia (7-day free trial)
Camtasia is video-editing software from the company TechSmith. For the video project in this class you can sign up for a 7-day trial to be able to use it for free.

Additional Tools
- Audio recording: Voice Memos appAudio recording on your phone. You can email the file to yourself when you are done recording.
- Audio recording: AudacityAudio recording and editing on your computer. Your computer must have a microphone.
- Screen capture: ScreenRecScreenRec is a free program to screencapture video, audio, and webcam feeds. The free version has a five-minute limit on recorded clips.
- Graphic design program: CanvaAllows you to make graphics for your film. Export as an image to display text on the screen, for example.
